The Nikon D3000 DSLR Digital SLR Camera - The Future Has Arrived

!: The Nikon D3000 DSLR Digital SLR Camera - The Future Has Arrived

We are truly living in the future. We may not have flying cars but we do have a smart camera that teaches its users photography. This smart camera can ask you what kind of photo you want and then adjust its settings to capture it. So users don't need to know much about photography to get really professional looking photos. And for users who want to learn about photography, this futuristic camera's Guide Mode will show you how to set up these kinds of shots yourself.

This "smart camera" is the Nikon D3000 DSLR Digital SLR Camera and is Nikon's newest entry level camera for people wanting to upgrade from their point and shoot cameras. It is also for those wanting to learn more about photography. With its in-camera Guide Mode it actually teaches users about aperture, shutter speed, infinity and all that other technical stuff that allows the professionals to get those amazing shots.

The Nikon D3000 DSLR Digital SLR Camera not only teaches photography, it also lets users edit photos right inside the camera. And it comes with some really awesome editing abilities. One that I find really fun in the "Miniature effect" feature under the Retouch Menu. This lets you make any photo look like a miniature model. How fun is that! Turn your house into a miniature, your backyard, your cat, etc. etc. Think of all the fun photographs you can create with this little effect.

Another fun feature of the Nikon D3000 is the Stop Motion capability. Say you're taking photos of your dog jumping up to catch a freesbie and you've captured him in sequence shots. The camera will let you paste those images together to create a stop motion video segment. And all of this is done inside the camera. You don't even need to go near a computer. And all of the editing functions are applied to a copy of the image, leaving your original image unaltered. Edit all you want and still have the original.

But don't think that because this is a starter camera that it is cheaply made or disposable like so many point and shoot cameras. This camera is a professional camera. It uses interchangeable lenses, and has a hot shoe for a detachable flash (but still come with a pop-up flash). Once you've outgrown the Nikon D3000 DSLR Digital SLR Camera, all of your lenses and accessories can be used on an upgraded, more high-end camera body.

Here are some of the setting modes worth mentioning:

Programmed Auto Mode: this mode chooses the best settings in aperture and shutter speed when you're just starting out so you don't have to mess with it.

The Shutter-Priority Auto Mode: you get to choose what shutter speed you want and the camera sets the aperture automatically.

The Aperture-Priority Auto Mode: you pick the aperture setting you want and the camera selects the shutter speed.

(If the above 3 modes seem redundant or like overkill, they're not. It is all part of letting you be really creative in exactly what effects you want to capture. You'll understand after you've used the Guide Mode for awhile.)

Manual Mode: this mode give you complete control over aperture and shutter speed once you have learned what those are and how to use them to create great photos.

The Portrait Mode and Child Mode: these modes are similar in that they both soften skin tones. And the Portraiture mode blurs the background while the Child Mode makes the background more vivid.

The Close Up mode: this is a really fun mode that lets you take close-up shots of tiny things, like flowers and insects.

There are other modes as well including a night mode, sports mode and landscape mode which are all self explanatory.

In creating the Nikon D3000 DSLR Digital SLR Camera, Nikon has come up with a really unique way to help regular people become better photographers. And therefore, have better, higher quality family photographs on their walls and in their photo albums.

Canon Vs Nikon - Digital SLR Camera Comparison

!: Canon Vs Nikon - Digital SLR Camera Comparison

It is imperative to understand the technology of DSLR cameras before contrasting the differences between to models.

Compare digital SLR cameras of Canon and Nikon

These are not just simple 'point and shoot' units. The DSLR, short for Digital Single Lens reflex gives users the ability to make the picture turn out the exact same as what is seen through the eye lens, or viewfinder.

In the 'point and shoot' units, the scene depicted in the viewfinder is not the same as what come through the primary lens. The viewfinder portion is not indicate of final product in traditional digital cameras. Therefore, in the DSLR cameras, the images are the same. Therefore, the photo taker will be able to take a picture that will turn out the same as what is seen through the viewfinder. This visualization makes picture taking much easier and more accurate.

There are three basic categories for both Canon and Nikon for SLR digital categories. Beginning with the amateur level machines, the Canon Rebel XS (1000D) and also the Nikon D60 fall into that category. There are many differences between the Rebel XS and Nikon D60. If you have older Canon lenses you want to use with it, the Nikon D60 will work with most of them; while the older Nikon lenses may not work with the Nikon D60.

The next category of these cameras is for more professional use. These are usually larger and more expensive. They require some expertise to use effectively. Cameras that fall into this category are the Canon Rebel T1i 500D as well as the Nikon D 5000. The Canon Rebel T1i and the D5000 are actually very similar in their capabilities; although the ISO range varies. The D5000 range is 100-6400 while the T1i has a larger range of 100-12800.

Finally, there is another category to compare digital SLR cameras. They fuse together several of the features from each of the previous categories. These can be used by amateur photographers who want to take more professional quality pictures. In this category, the Nikon D300 and Canon 50D would meet those needs. These are both really good cameras and are almost identical in their features. There are a few subtle differences; the Canon is actually lighter at 29 oz than the Nikon at 32.6 oz. Also, the ISO range is slightly different; the Canon ISO boasts 100-12800 where the Nikon range is 100-6400.

The shooting speed is set at a maximum of 2.5 frames per second with a three-point autofocus, which lacks a bit in the action-tracking department, production it a bit unsuitable for action or sports shots. Never Buy A Nikon D40 Digital Slr Camera

The Nikon D40 Digital Slr Camera has been on a multitude of top ten lists and received numerous five star ratings. But, every camera has it's quirks and some of them can be quite glaring. Then Nikon D40 is no exception. They say there's no such thing as a bad camera, only bad photographers. I'd like to take that a bit further, and say that there's no such thing as a bad photographer, only good photographers using the wrong camera. So, let's be a diminutive needful with the D40 Slr, and see if it's unmistakably the right camera for you.

The most certain shortcoming of the Nikon D40 camera, is the absence of an autofocus driver in the camera body. What this means, is that if autofocus is prominent to the way you take pictures, they you are somewhat diminutive in the estimate of lenses you can use with the D40. Only about ten percent of the available lenses for the Nikon D40 have autofocus Drives built into the lenses. Needless to say, those lenses are considerably more high-priced than lenses without autofocus (upwards of 0 or more). Autofocus would be prominent to anyone shooting shots with lots of movement, such as sports or wildlife.

Nikon D40 Digital Slr

Nikon decided that a depth of field preview feature was not needful for the D40. Depending on your preference for taking pictures, this may or may not be of concern. Some photographers find this very helpful, but others may just experiment with dissimilar aperture settings and form out from that what stays in focus, and what doesn't. I would suggest, that someone studying photography could unmistakably advantage from a depth of field preview as it helps to teach the theory of objects in focus anddefocused.

!: Purchase Nikon EN-EL3a Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack for D50, D70, D70s, and D100 save

Brand : Nikon | Rate : | Price : $18.95

A high-energy rechargeable lithium-ion battery. EN-EL3a delivers the power to shoot up to 2,500 images on a single charge

  • Works with Nikon D50, D70, D70S, and D100 cameras
  • Lithium ion chemistry free from memory effect
  • 1500-mAh power capacity
  • Compact 1.62-by-2.25-by-0.81-inches, weighs 4-ounces
  • Charger not included; 30-day warranty

One last small grievance. Most Slr's in this price range, allow you to take pictures in the Raw format, and the D40 is no exception. What is a bit surprising, is that when you take pictures with the Raw and Jpeg format at the same time, the D40 only uses a very basic Jpeg format. For a camera in this price range I would have incredible better. Again, your photo taking preferences come into play here. If all you ever take is only Raw, or only Jpeg format pictures, then don't concern yourself with this issue.
